Cottage Country Stocking Guide: What to Pack from the GTA in 2026
The drive from Toronto to Muskoka is the wrong place to realize you forgot the gin. Here's the cottage stocking list, ordered by who's drinking what, with same-day GTA delivery before you head north.

Cottage country LCBO locations exist but they're not built for the volume of a Toronto weekender showing up Friday at 6 PM. The Bracebridge LCBO is one cash, one floor staff, and a parking lot full of GTA plates. Better plan: stock at home in the GTA, load the car once, drive north without a second stop.
Plan Per Person, Per Day
For a typical 6-person, 3-day cottage weekend, plan rough quantities:
- Beer: 3-4 cans/bottles per person per day → ~60-72 total
- Wine: ~half a bottle per drinker per dinner → 6-8 bottles
- Spirits: one bottle of vodka + one of whiskey + one of gin or tequila for cocktails
- Mixers: tonic (1L), soda water (2L), ginger ale (1L), club soda (2L)
- Limes: 12 minimum. Lemons: 6
- Ice: 2-3 bags from a gas station closer to the cottage — don't try to bring it from Toronto
The Cottage Bottle Picks
Pick bottles that work for the dock, not the dinner party. Forgiving, easy to mix, low fuss:
- Beer: Molson Canadian, Coors Light, Heineken, Stella Artois — pick the two everyone in the group will drink
- Wine: Sauvignon Blanc (chilled, dock-friendly), Pinot Noir (light enough for warm afternoons)
- Vodka: Smirnoff or Tito's — you're putting it in a Caesar, not sipping it neat
- Whiskey: Crown Royal or J.P. Wiser's — Canadian, sweet enough to drink on the rocks
- Tequila: Patrón Silver or Casamigos Blanco for Margaritas and Palomas
- Aperol: a bottle covers the entire weekend's Spritzes
The Cooler Strategy
Two coolers minimum — one for beer (volume), one for wine and mixers (more sensitive). Pre-chill bottles at home before packing. Beer goes in 24 hours before; wine 6 hours; mixers same day. Ice goes on top, not bottom — cold sinks.
Order Before You Drive
J&J delivers across the GTA — Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, North York. We can be at your door with the full weekend's load in 35 minutes. Order Thursday evening or Friday morning before your drive at jnjalcoholdelivery.ca or (437) 328-0030. We're 24/7, so the timing's flexible.
We don't deliver to cottages directly — drive range stops at the GTA — but stocking from us before you leave saves you the cottage-country LCBO line and the 45-minute detour.
